Refund & Cancellation Policy
Maintained by the InSynk team. Last updated 26 July 2026. All amounts are in South African rand.
The short version
- · Cancel any time from your profile — no phone call, no retention maze.
- · Cancel during your free 7-day trial and you are never charged.
- · Change your mind within 14 days of a first paid charge and we refund it in full.
- · Charged in error, double-billed or billed after cancelling? Full refund, always.
- · Penalties already donated to your charity cannot be refunded — but scoring errors are corrected.
1. Cancelling your subscription
Go to Profile → Plan and cancel. Cancellation takes effect immediately for future renewals, and you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not pro-rate part-months, because you retain full use of the app for the rest of that period.
2. The free 7-day trial
Every new member gets one free 7-day trial. Cancel before the trial ends and you are never charged. If the trial converts and you cancel within 14 days of that first charge, we refund it in full.
3. Cooling-off and statutory rights
Where you signed up electronically, section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 gives you a 7-day cooling-off right, and the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 gives you the right to cancel a fixed-term or automatically renewing agreement on 20 business days’ notice. Our 14-day first-charge refund is offered in addition to those rights and never replaces them.
4. Full refunds we always give
We refund in full, without argument, if: you were charged after cancelling; you were charged twice for the same month; a technical fault at our end prevented you from using the app for more than 72 consecutive hours in a billing month; or the charge was not authorised by you or an account holder.
5. Refunds we generally do not give
We generally do not refund past months of an active subscription you used, months in which you simply forgot to log goals, or the current month after it has been used, because the Service was available to you throughout. Nothing here overrides your statutory rights, and we will always consider exceptional circumstances such as hospitalisation or bereavement — write to us.
6. Penalties and charity donations
Penalties are voluntary contributions you opt into, calculated from partner-approved logs and charged on the 1st of the following month. 90% goes to the charity you selected and 10% is retained as an administration fee.
Before payout: raise a dispute within 7 days of a penalty charge and, if the score was calculated incorrectly — for example a partner approval was not recorded, or a goal was scheduled on days before it was created — we correct the score and refund the difference in full.
After payout: once funds have been paid over to the charity they cannot be recalled, so that portion is not refundable. If the error was ours, we refund the equivalent amount from our own funds rather than clawing it back from the charity.
7. How to request a refund
Email the support address shown in the app from the address on your account, with the charge date, the amount, and a one-line reason. We acknowledge within 2 business days and decide within 10 business days. Approved refunds are paid to the original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank.
8. Chargebacks
Please contact us before raising a chargeback — it is faster for both of us. Accounts with an open chargeback may be suspended until it is resolved.
9. Price changes and account deletion
If we raise prices we give at least 30 days’ notice; cancel before the new price takes effect and you are never charged it. Deleting your account cancels your subscription, but does not by itself refund charges already made — request a refund first if one is due.
